Friday, May 24th
10:00 a.m.- Dedication Ceremony
During this event a local religious leader will dedicate the Idaho Field of Heroes transforming it from a high school sports field to a place of remembrance and reflection.
The Idaho Field of Heroes is open annually for visitation 24 hours a day for 4 days beginning the Friday before Memorial Day closing at midnight Memorial Day.
6:00 p.m. – Youth Ceremony
This event is produced and executed primarily by the students in our community. Patriotic essays from different organizations are read by their authors. Talented young men and women sing. They fully understand Memorial Day and why it is important.
7:00 p.m. – Flag Folding Ceremony
The Civil Air Patrol Pocatello Composite Squadron teaches us the meaning of the flag folds in their 13 Folds of the US Flag.
Saturday, May 25th
Run to Remember
Registration begins at 9 am with the Run starting at 10 am
Century High School Track, South Side of school
Paying tribute to Idaho’s Fallen is the primary purpose of The Run to Remember. With the goal of marking 97 Miles for the 97 Idahoans who have died as a direct result of hostile actions at the hands of the enemy since 9/11.
For a suggested $10 donation, participants will get a t-shirt and swag bag while supplies last.
12-2:00 p.m. – Children’s Activity
Near the Coke Trailer we will have a craft that people of all ages and abilities can participate in. There is no cost associated with the activity we just want children to have a take away memory of coming to the Field
2:00 p.m. USO Show
3:30 p.m. – Stasia Acrobats
We round the USO Show off with Stasia Acrobats. This performance group is led by a Veteran who understands the price of freedom. He instills integrity into the young students he trains.
Sunday, May 26th
5:00 p.m. – Special Musical Event with Shawn Barnby & Friends
Veteran Shawn Barnby taught himself to play the guitar when he was in the Army. He and his friend come out to the Field to play for us. Please join us Sunday evening for a live concert dedicated to the men and women in the Field.
8:00 p.m. – Silent Wounds Candlelight Vigil
Every day veterans suffer with PTSD and TBI, sometimes they succumb to this illness. 22 Veterans a day lose their lives due to self-inflicted actions. Even more suffer from substance abuse and homelessness, silently in isolation. If you or a loved one suffers or has lost the battle, join us as we fellowship together and honor the unseen cost of war.
Monday, May 27th – Memorial Day
1:30 p.m. – “Retire with Respect” Flag Retirement Ceremony (POW*MIA Awareness Association)
5:15 p.m. – Thunder Run Tribute
5:30 p.m. – Closing Ceremony
