Sgt. Michael C. Peek, 23, died March 3, 2007, in Baghdad, Iraq, while on a mission in al-Adamiyah District, an improvised explosive device was detonated beside his Humvee. Also killed was fellow soldiers Sgt. Brandon Parr and Sgt. Ashly Moyer.

Michael was born Sept. 18, 1983, in Silver Spring, Md., to Katherine Hudak and Floyd Peek. He attended grade school in Bowie, Md., and graduated in 2001 from Lake Taylor High School in Norfolk, Va. In response to the 9/11 attack, Michael enlisted in the Army in December 2001, joining his brother, Justin M. Peek AM3 (AW), and uncle, John A. Hudak MC1 (AWSW). He graduated boot camp in April, 2002, and left for Germany. While in Germany, he served in Kosovo 2003-2004 and volunteered for his first tour in Iraq 2004-2005. Michael left for his second tour to Iraq in June 2006.

Michael is survived by his mother, Katherine L. Jordan, and stepfather, Steve Jordan, of Smithfield, Virginia, and his father, Floyd Peek of Boise, Idaho. He also leaves behind his fiancée, Melanie Link, his brother, sister-in-law, numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
