Eric L. Allton, 34, from Boise, Idaho died in Ramadi, Iraq on Sept. 26, 2004, when he was hit by a mortar round.\u00a0 \u201cEric was a dedicated husband, father and soldier,\u201d his wife, Christina, said. \u201cHe took care of his family and his country. Eric will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew him.\u201d He leaves behind his wife, two sons from a previous marriage, his mother, father and two sisters. \u201cHe was a career soldier; the Army was his passion,\u201d said his father, Harry Allton of Houston. \u201cHe was a generous, open soul. He just wanted to serve. He was a fine Christian man.\u201d \u201cWe have lost another Idaho soldier who was defending freedom,\u201d Gov. Dirk Kempthorne. Allton entered the military in January 1994. He served five years in Germany, several months in Sarajevo and then Korea.
